Filter and sort the outlier feed

Every filter and sort option on the outlier feed, and which are free.

Filters are what turn the outlier feed from a firehose into research. These are all available on the free plan.

Filters

Search — Free-text match across titles. Use it to check whether a specific angle has been done.

Niche — Scope the feed to a topic category. The single most useful filter; set it first.

Format — Longform or Shorts. Always pick one. Mixing them makes patterns much harder to see, because the two formats reward completely different packaging.

Minimum outlier score — The quality gate. Preset thresholds of 2x, 5x, 10x and 20x. 5x is the best default — high enough to filter out noise, low enough to leave you plenty to study.

Minimum views — An absolute floor. Pair this with a high multiplier to screen out tiny channels whose dramatic multipliers come from a very low baseline.

Upload date — Cap how old results can be. Use 30–90 days for "what's working now"; leave it open for evergreen patterns.

Sorting

  • Outlier score — Biggest overperformers first. The default for idea-hunting.
  • Views per day — Velocity. Surfaces videos that are moving right now rather than ones that accumulated views over two years.
  • Engagement — Comment and interaction weight relative to views. Good for finding topics an audience actually argues about.
  • Views per sub — How far a video reached past its channel's existing subscriber base. Above 1.0 means the algorithm pushed it beyond the subscriber wall.

Saved filter sets

Any combination of filters can be saved as a reusable set and reopened in one click. If you research the same two or three niches every week, save each configuration once and stop rebuilding it.

Going further

Plus adds a set of packaging filters — channel size, video duration, views-per-sub thresholds, channel median and comment floors. See [Advanced packaging filters](/advanced-packaging-filters-plus).
