Subscriber Insights (at /insights) connects your own YouTube channel to vidfora — read-only — and shows you exactly which videos gain (and lose) you subscribers.
Connecting
- Open Subscriber Insights in the sidebar and click Connect with Google.
- Pick the Google account that owns your channel and approve the two read-only permissions.
- You land back on vidfora with your dashboard loaded.
vidfora asks for exactly two scopes — youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly. Both are read-only: vidfora can never upload, edit, comment, or change anything on your channel. You can disconnect at any time from the dashboard, or revoke access yourself at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
What you get
Over the last 28 days:
- Subscribers gained and lost — separately, plus the net. YouTube Studio buries the "lost" number; it's often the more instructive one.
- Net subscribers per day — a daily chart, so you can line spikes up against uploads.
- Views and watch hours — the context for the subscriber movement.
- What actually gained you subscribers — your videos ranked by subscribers gained in the window. This is the list to study before planning your next upload: the videos that convert viewers into subscribers are frequently not your most-viewed ones.
Reading it with the rest of vidfora
The powerful move is cross-referencing: take your top subscriber-converting video, then use [Thumbnail Search](/thumbnail-search-plus) and the outlier feed to find what its packaging has in common with your niche's breakouts — and ask the [AI Coach](/ai-coach-chat-strategy-for-your-channel) what to double down on.
Troubleshooting
- "That Google account has no YouTube channel" — you picked a Google account without a channel. Reconnect and choose the right one.
- Dashboard suddenly asks you to reconnect — you (or Google) revoked the grant. Reconnecting takes ten seconds.
- Numbers differ slightly from YouTube Studio — the Analytics API finalizes data with a delay of a day or two; very recent days can still shift.
- Hidden subscriber count — if your channel hides its subscriber count, the live total won't show, but gained/lost analytics still work.
