Outlier score (multiplier) — A video's views divided by its own channel's median views for the same format. "10x" means ten times the channel's normal performance. See [The outlier score, explained](/the-outlier-score-explained).
Baseline / median — The middle view count across a channel's mature videos in one format. The number every upload on that channel is measured against.
Format — Longform or Shorts. Scored separately, because they behave completely differently on YouTube.
Niche — The topic category a channel or video belongs to. Used to filter the feed and to scope AI generation.
Micro-niche — A tighter cluster mined from analysed videos — a recurring sub-topic or title pattern inside a broader niche, ranked by how well its videos overperform.
Opportunity score — Niche Explorer's 0–100 rating of how much room a topic has, weighing viewer demand against the channels already serving it. Comes with a verdict from Wide open to Saturated.
Views per sub — A video's views divided by its channel's subscriber count. Above 1.0 means the video reached beyond the channel's existing audience — a sign the algorithm pushed it.
Board — A saved collection of videos you've bookmarked for research.
Folder — A named group of tracked channels, used to organise tracking and to scope alerts.
Alert — A rule that flags you when a tracked channel posts a video at or above an outlier score you choose.
Live Analyze — Analysing a channel on demand, in real time, rather than reading it from vidfora's existing dataset.
AI credits — The shared monthly budget the AI features draw from. Different generations cost different amounts. See [AI credits explained](/ai-credits-explained).
Persona — A named person or character with reference photos, used so AI-generated thumbnails keep the same face across videos.
Thumbnail Score — An AI grade on a thumbnail, with specific fixes you can apply in the Studio.
Dataset — vidfora's stored, pre-scored library of videos and channels — what the outlier feed serves from, refreshed on an ongoing basis.
